ANTS Connected Display clients are used to showcase your media at deployed venues.
When you first login to your account, or click on the "Add Display" button in the management console, you will be prompted the following pop up dialogue box to create a new ANTS Connected Display.
In this dialogue box, enter the information as follows:
Address – location where your ANTS Connected Display will be shown on the Google map. Enter the address using the Google standard as follows: 1234 Main Street, Vancouver, Canada
Name – the name used to describe this ANTS Connected Display
Allow position updates – Yes allows ANTS to detect the location of the device and update it on the map
Registration interval –time interval, in minutes, where the client requests information updates from the server. It is also used to update status information on the management console.
Timezone – the timezone where the ANTS Connected Display is located
Upon pressing the Submit button, you will be presented the 16-digit alphanumeric ANTS Connected Display ID. Make a note of this ID as it will be required when starting the client; an email with the device ID will also be sent to you via email.
The 16-digit alphanumeric ANTS Connected Display ID is used to bind the client against the server. This binding allows the management, monitoring and media publishing of your Connected Displays via the web-based management console.
Downloading and Installing the ANTS Client
The ANTS Connected Display client can be downloaded from the console page by clicking on the "Client Download" button. Save the downloaded ZIP package in a location where you can easily find it for installation later. Unzip the two files found in the package and run the setup.exe package. The installation program will guide you through the steps to install the application.
After installing the ANTS Connected Display client, a shortcut to the application will be placed on the desktop.
When you run the application for the first time, you will be asked to enter the 16-character Display ID that was presented to you on creating the display on the ANTS Management Console and also sent to you via email. Entering the 16-character alphanumeric characters will bind this display with the ANTS network.
If you have not yet published media for this display, then a set of sample media files will be played to give you an idea of the possibilities that are made available to you through the ANTS Distributed Media platform. The ANTS client can play an assortment of motion and still pictures in various formats along with allowing you to add in various widgets found on the web to complement your display layout.
ANTS Connected Display Client Status
When running the ANTS Connected Display client, the ANTS Distributed Media logo at the bottom left hand corner is used to provide IP connectivity information. The two states are as follows:
Client has IP connectivity and is working normally
Client has lost IP connectivity or has one or more of the following errors:
No playlist has been scheduled for date and time
Scheduled playlist does not have any contents
To correct this issue, login to the console and go to “Schedule & Publish” to ensure a playlist is scheduled for the date and time. If something is published, check the “Create & Edit” tab to make sure the playlist contains media files.
